Here are some pix of my Final A-LEVEL DT Textiles pieces. The given brief was
‘Nature in Design’ so I got my inspiration from the local rainforest and butterfly centre-Felinwynt. The top is 100% Silk Dupion that I have silk painted and free machine embroidered myself....It’s based on a Madagascan Comet moth. And the skirt is a bias-cut Chiffon/crepe type fabric and a nylon overlay with silk and cotton leaves hand-sewn on top(VERY time consuming and finger-blistering process! >_<*) It kinda shows monstera leaves,palms and ferns etc...and there are 3 water-soluble fabric butterflies sewn on too for detail. It has been hinted that I have an ‘A’ for this piece but I won’t know for sure until results are out, and the examiner too one of the photos away with him and there’s a chance it could be called forward for exhibition with the best in the country (WOOHOOO!!!  ...Totally unexpected but a verynice surprise considering the hundreds of hours spent on these pieces...) *The garments are being modelled by a girl in my art class and the photographs were taken on a really sunny day at the back of our school where the Science department pond is.* |
